A NEW ALBUM!

guns-n-roses.jpg

The Guns N Roses have announced that their new album, Chinese Democracy, will be released via Best Buy November 23, 2008. Yes, now you can sing along to an Axl Rose song besides “Welcome to the Jungle” in the shower or before sporting events. If you dont fancy the new album or if your spouse sold your Guns N Roses vinyl at the last garage sale, have no fear because their first album, Appetite For Destruction, is being reissued on vinyl through Interscope at the end of October. Does the new album mean a new tour? That is still up in the air, but I would suggest checking back through Billboard for the latest information.

Four albums for four cousins

With four successful albums in the U.S. and the U.K., the Kings of Leon bring their blend of Jesus Christ and Jack Daniel’s southern garage rock to adoring fans everywhere. The Black Keys and Danger Mouse Attack and Release hit album

blackkeys.jpg

Since The Black Keys have teamed up with producer extraordinaire Danger Mouse to make Attack and Release, the duo has become better than ever. Instead of playing it safe in their dirty Delta blues infused to the maximum with the minimum in garage rock, they have expanded their sound and have made it fuller and richer thus stepping out from the shadows of other blues-garage rock minimalists a la The White Stripe. Their current tour has tickets selling like crazy, with many shows sold out. The Black Keys have added a couple more dates in the U.S. before the head over to Europe. See if they are coming to you here.

Bob discovers music via Girl Talk.

girl-talk.jpg

Hello, my name is Bob and I have been hiding under a rock for the past thirty years. You know, avoiding Vietnam, acid wash jeans, Y2K and the like. Well, finally my wife said that I was no longer allowed to miss my daughter’s birthdays, school plays, first words, etc.  and that I had to come out from under there or she would stop leaving me water. So I did. I was searching this confounded interweb super highway for a board game called Girl Talk for my daughter and I stumbled on this man “Girl Talk”. I listened to his music and I was automatically updated with the latest music crazes. (I thought the world was still turned on to Jefferson Starship). I heard this disc jockey mix that one Jefferson Airplane song with some guy named Lupe Fiasco and Elton John with a man named Biggie. This disc jockey, named Gregg Gillis, can mash together 20 songs into two minutes. It was a very useful crash course in pop music of the past and present! And now my wife thinks I’m cool.

Live Concerts ROCK!

Last weekend I had the pleasure to see Stereophonics in concert at the Metro. The concert was great. It was my first time at the Metro and it certainly will not be the last. I really liked the venue, though it is small. Sure the concert was sold-out, but again, with a small venue like the Metro, that probably meant a couple hundred people were in attendance. The Metro has a fun set up; I would compare it to Congress Theater, but on a much smaller scale. My friend and I started out on the balcony but ventured down to the main floor, where the view was better. Great concert at a great venue!

Rough Start for Neil Diamond

Neil Diamond had a rough start to his scheduled tour. A minor throat infection held back the pop star from performing. But now all is well! Neil Diamond is back onstage performing for lively audiences across the nation. Neil Diamond continues with the next concert at Rexall Place in Edmonton, Alberta on September 16, 2008. Neil Diamond tour dates remain unchanged for the remainder of the tour.
