Blue Man Group has been a show since 1991, but it is still going and still doing very well.  The show has changed in that time, but not as much as you’d think. It’s still fun to see this combination of modern theater, with silent movies and music raves and blue people. Most people who want to see it probably have by now, but it’s still a fun thing to get out and check out.  They also have several CDs out that people can listen to. Audio was their first album, which came out in 1999 and then a newer one, from 2003, called The Complex. You might be asking me, what could be good about a pantomime group on CD? Well, you see… it’s about the instruments.  They have a lot of wacky instruments, so it’s always entertaining. You’ll just have to check it out.

Boyz II Men are actually still around.  And they’re touring!  Are you as surprised as I am? They’re doing shows in different places throughout the country and people are still loving them. I would be interested to know if it’s the same old fans from before or a new generation of Boyz lovers.  They’ve been a famous group since about 1991 and became especially famous in the several years thereafter. They are still producing music, though not nearly as often as they were back then, and it’s all in their same signature style.  If it’s your thing, then people will be happy about that.  If it’s not, then it’s just kind of boring.  But at least it’s not annoying or anything; no screaming, no pyrotechnics. Just some good musicians doing what they do well.

6 years after her partner, Dave Carter’s death, Tracy Grammer is still touring, bringing his music and hers to new audiences all the time.  The duo were known for a country/folk/mystical style in their music.  Their songs, like “When I go” and “Jack to Valentino”, are very popular with the folk music crowd.  Grammer has presented many of Carter’s previously unreleased songs to audiences in coffee shops, theaters and music festivals across the continent.  She is an outstanding performer. Currently, she’s performing with Jim Henry at various venues every week or so.  If you get the chance, go see them!

T.I., a rapper, is a convicted felon.  At least technically. But he hasn’t been sentenced yet, and so he is, in fact, eligible to vote.  He did vote this week, as an early voter, in Georgia.  The only case in which he wouldn’t be allowed to vote is if he were serving either a prison sentence or probation.  T.I. was convicted a few months ago on federal firearms charges, because he apparently tried to buy automatic weapons last year in violation of the law.  He was quite happy to be allowed to go out and vote.  And certainly, him making a big public issue of it wont hurt him when it comes down to the sentencing.  T.I. has two #1 hits on his new album and has been very popular in the Rap/Hip-Hop world in the last few years.

Bob Dylan continues to tour.  His current tour, the “Never Ending Tour,” has been continuing since the 1988, which is where it gets its name from.  He still plays nearly 100 concerts a year and is still loved by fans and music lovers. Dylan, however, doesn’t think of it as the “Never Ending Tour” because that’s a name that the public gives to the tour; instead, he insists that the Never Ending Tour did, in fact, end in 1991, when his guitarist G. E. Smith left the tour.  Nevertheless, Dylan has performances scheduled several times every month and in the US and other parts of the world as well.  Dylan has been making music since the 1960s, including such hits as “The Times They Are a-Changin’” and “Blowin’ in the Wind.”  One of his biggest influences in the early days was Woody Guthrie and is well respected as a musician and as a poet for his lyrics.

Madonna is now on her 8th concert tour, which is called “Sticky and Sweet.”  This tour takes her to many different venues in North America and Europe and is to support and promote her new album Hard Candy.  The album is her 11th in a career that spans over 25 years.  The concert she performs on this tour has four acts: Pimp, Old School, Gypsy and Rave.  The program’s music spans her entire career, from her beginnings in New York to the present, and also includes many musical genres, from modern urban music to folk and gypsy music.

Madonna has been been performing since the late 1970s, first working with several dance troupes and singing for several rock bands.  In the early 1980s, she quickly became one of the biggest names in music and releasing her first single in 1982. Since then, she has recorded many songs and performed with the top musicians in the world. Her latest tour started at the end of August and will continue until the end of the year.

As one of the headlining (fart) stars in the comedy world and a member of the uproariously funny Blue Collar Comedy team (fart), Larry the Cable Guy is doing some heavy duty (fart, fart) touring and plans on git’ring her done did’d around the nation. After “Balloons” put them on the indie rock map, Foals is ready to release another single from their album “Antidotes” entitled “Olympic Airwaves.” The band forged their dance-pop sound in Oxford England in early 2005 before bringing their live set overseas to America. Though the band is officially comprised of 5 full time members, they frequently employ brass players for their live sets when necessary. The band is also hard at work on their second album, which is yet to be named.
