Monheit

Jane Monheit is appearing at Feinstein’s for the first time ever. And it’s a nice show apparently. It has the distinct feel of a cabaret show but with a little bite to it. She sings a bunch of nice songs, old standards in some ways, but songs that people enjoy hearing again and again. Her renditions of Cole Porter and Stardust are very nice and enjoyable. She doesn’t tackle some of the more difficult charts but the ones she does sing can “melt the ice from a cold cold heart.” There isn’t all that much information about this performance, because the set of performances just began. We don’t hear much about Monheit most of the time, but she is a talented singer that we should pay some more attention to.
