Spice girls express their interest to perform on Mandela’s 90th birthday
The Spice Girls, who are currently on the reunion tour, has shown keen interest in performing at the 90th birthday celebrations of Nelson Mandela, the former South African president. The All Star concert that is to be organized to commemorate the 90th birthday of Nelson Mandela is slated to take place on June 27th at Hyde Park in London. But, Geri Halliwell, the Spice Girl, has said that the 26th February performance at Toronto will be the final concert that the Spice Girls will be doing together before parting ways.
But at the girl power group’s Madison Square garden show, the Sporty Spice Girl, Melanie Chisholm, said that the band would definitely perform for Nelson Mandela again and are great friends of the leader. The Spice Girls first met Mandela at his Pretoria presidential residence in 1997 when they were on a tour to Johannesburg. She said that all the Spice Girls were privileged to meet the great man and praised the man for his humility and strength. The Spice Girls were asked to perform in a concert that was organized to celebrate his 89th birthday, but they were not able to attend the concert, as Baby Spice, Emma Bunton, was pregnant at that time.
