Celine Dion creates musical magic in the South African concert
The Taking Chances tour, the first tour of the Canadian pop diva Celine Dion in almost eight years, is doing rounds all over the world and the latest nation to rock to her tunes was South Africa. Celine performed in Loftus Versfeld Stadium, in Pretoria on the 16th of February 2008 and this is her first ever show in South Africa and the audiences were thrilled to bits by her captivating voice that rocked the nearly fully filled stadium.
There is no doubt that Celine Dion is one of South Africa’s top selling international pop artist and the response that she received for her songs like “I Drove All Night”, title track of “Taking Chances” and ‘I’m Alive” speaks volumes of her popularity in the African nation. The 90 minute music and dance fiesta was choreographed and directed by Jamie King and revolved around themes from her early years to rock to passion and soul. She also paid tributes to the yesteryear band Queen by performing two of their very popular numbers, “We Will Rock You” and “The Show Must Go On” mid way through her concert. Finally, she ended her concert with her most popular single “My Heart Will Go On” that received a thunderous round of applause from the audience.
